Tuition fees ‘would reduce university cost pressures’

β€œ A clear hint that Ireland should bring back tuition fees is given in the latest OECD education report. It says many European countries have not increased public spending on universities to the level needed, yet they do not allow universities to charge tuition fees. “As a result, their institutions’ budgetary difficulties are increasing, which may ultima-tely endanger the quality of the programmes offered” says OECD Education Director Barbara Ischinger.” (more)
