Celebrity professor stirs up the UCD staff

“University College Dublin has defended its choice of historian Diarmuid Ferriter as the new Professor of Modern History despite him being in Boston until this time next year. His appointment has caused significant controversy amid Irish academics because of he is supposedly “not dusty enough” and a bit of a celebrity historian, but he is a firm favourite of the current management of the college.
