College regulator plan is scrapped

“The Government has scrapped plans to set up a statutory agency to promote and regulate the €1bn international education sector. The move has shocked the sector, which says a single body is needed to promote Ireland as a centre for international education. Four years ago, the Government accepted a report which outlined plans to set up the body, Education Ireland, on a legal basis. Promises to do so were made to the Indian government, which had expressed concerns about the lack of regulations following the collapse of a business school in Co Louth.
