Universities pressured to defend €6m salary spend

“Ireland’s top two universities are set to be hauled in front of an emergency Oireachtas committee to defend the €6m spend per year on generous salaries, bonuses and allowances for their top brass. Figures published here today, obtained by the Sunday Independent under the Freedom of Information Act, reveal for the first time the gravy train of the lavish pay packets and perks being paid to senior staff in University College Dublin (UCD) and Trinity College Dublin.
