Irish academics are paid too well

“The president of Dublin City University keeps telling us (Irish Independent, March 2) that tuition fees — a form of special taxation particularly detrimental to a country’s future — should be introduced as an answer to his funding crisis. He could broaden his argument and also tell us — especially in view of the fact that salaries account for 75pc of university expenditure — what justifies the fact that Irish academics are paid at least twice as much (net) as their German counterparts …” (more)
