Colleges must be accountable says O’Keeffe

Ireland“Education Minister Batt O’Keeffe yesterday demanded greater value and accountability for money from universities and other third level colleges. He took the unusual step of telling the Higher Education Authority that it should pay particular attention to its responsibilities on this front. The Minister said the Authority had to play a central role in holding the higher education system to account for its activities and for the expenditure of public funds. The ‘light touch’ approach it had adopted had worked well in giving the institutions the flexibility to develop as high-quality institutions …” (more)
