Science Foundation Ireland launches ‘Powering the Smart Economy’ Strategy 2009-2013

Ireland“Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) today launched its strategy for 2009-2013. Entitled ‘Powering the Smart Economy’, the strategy seeks to build on the momentum and substantial progress of the past five years, in establishing Ireland as a location for internationally-recognised research and innovation. Commenting on the Strategy, Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Coughlan T.D. said ‘Jobs, increased competitiveness and leveraging of investments in the Higher Education sector flow from the high-quality research in science and engineering supported by SFI. The focus of the SFI Strategy on further strengthening research capacity and linkages with industry is at the heart of the Government’s drive to create a new dynamism between our educational institutions and commercial enterprises, as outlined in the Smart Economy framework document issued in December 2008 …” (more)
