University salary row is academic

Ireland“Timothy O’Leary (Letters, April 4) may be right when he says Irish academics are overpaid compared with their counterparts in similar Anglo-Saxon economies. I don’t know, and I don’t really care. What seems more relevant to me, at this time, is that Ireland would have been spared the current economic disaster had voters, politicians, bankers and builders listened to academic economists rather than those employed in the private sector …” (more)
