Trinity team makes vaccine discovery

Ireland“Irish scientists have discovered a new protein in the immune system that could lead to better vaccines for diseases such as HIV and malaria. The research team at Trinity College Dublin, led by Professor of Biochemistry Luke O’Neill, believe the protein they have named TAG limits a key process in the body that is needed to make vaccines work. ‘If we can now devise a way to interfere with TAG, we may be able to boost experimental vaccines for diseases such as HIV and malaria,’ Prof O’Neill explained …” (more)
