Public sector jobs targeted in Bord Snip Nua report

Ireland“Cuts of between 15,000 and 20,000 in public sector numbers over the next five years are recommended in the Bord Snip Nua report, to be considered by cabinet this week. The report calls for large cuts in numbers in education and the health service as part of its plan to cut more than €5bn from annual government spending … Among the key points of the Bord Snip report, drawn up by a committee chaired by UCD economist Colm McCarthy, are: cuts of around €5.25 billion to be achieved over a four to five year period; significant jobs cuts in education, including in third level institutions …” (more)
