A ‘gutless’ kick at students

Ireland“Dear Editor, Terence Cosgrave’s article in the August 21 issue (‘Who gets to go to medical school?’) starts well enough in trying to elaborate on the introduction of the HPAT and its impact on medical student intake. It’s a great shame he didn’t stick to his theme and try to develop his arguments. Instead, he goes on to make the point in his column that the State ‘pays an enormous cost to educate medical students’ and gets ‘very little back from it’. Elsewhere, he states that ‘we set them up for life, for free, and ask for nothing in return’. What a load of utter and complete nonsense! …” (more)
