I’m signing because as a female scientist myself, working in NUI Galway I want to make a positive contribution to improve the professional lives of myself and other female colleagues throughout NUIG, Galway, Ireland and all over the world. The preferential treatment that male employees are given is evident throughout all sectors in the form of promotions, work load, and general attitude and I want to see a change in how women are treated. Equality is needed full stop. We work hard for our jobs and for our education. We deserve the recognition and rewards for our hard work in the same manner that it is given to our male colleagues.
I fully support the action of Dr Micheline Sheehy Skeffington and her five female colleagues working in NUI Galway. These professionals are highly educated and work hard for their students and NUI Galway. They deserve recognition and rewards in the same manner that it is given to their male colleagues.
