“The Government faces a revolt if it reintroduces tuition fees for students in third-level colleges. A massive 58pc of adults do not think fees should be reintroduced, according to a new Irish Independent / Millward Brown IMS poll. Only a fifth (21pc) believe they should be brought back; 17pc say ‘it depends’ and the remainder are in the ‘don’t know’ category. The findings will give the Government pause for thought as Education Minister Batt O’Keeffe plans to bring proposals to Cabinet next month.
