Professors’ union blames university heads for payrise delay

Ireland“University presidents are partly to blame for the delay in college professors receiving backdated payments, the head of the union for third level teachers has said. General secretary of the Irish Federation of University Teachers (IFUT) Mike Jennings has criticised the fact that professors are the only group reviewed under the O’Brien Group not to have yet received their backdated pay increases. This is due to investigations carried out by the Department of Education over ‘unauthorised allowances.’ As well as university professors taking the blame for the delay, Jennings also cites an overly-bureaucratic system as another reason for the situation …” (more)
