[The headline figure looks wrong. 1,093 is the number of THIRD LEVEL employees with salaries over €100,000 – in other words it isn’t restricted to universities and it isn’t restricted to academics. 4,327 is the number of UNIVERSITY, ACADEMIC staff. Saying that 1,093 is about 25% of 4,327 is arithmetically accurate but is a nonsense statistic.]
