“John Browne (Wexford, Fianna Fail): To ask the Minister for Education and Skills her views on the system of degree courses being offered by private colleges which cost large amounts of money to complete but are not recognised in countries outside our own …” (more)

If the course does not tick the box under state funded public colleges under the QQI /NFQ umbrella for awards then no grants or funding will be made available if the course is ran in a private college.I have been accepted to a private college at year 2 of a Bachelors degree course as a mature student but because its a private college and full time course I will get no financial assistance. I appealed this as high as the Department of Education and Skills and Dept of Social Protection, minister Leo Varadkar but got a nice rejection letter, basically saying “not all boxes are ticked…good luck and try another approved public college.”
